STATESVILLE, NC — Fifth Street Ministries is pleased to announce the appointment of Tamara Roach as its new Executive Director. Roach, a longtime nonprofit leader and advocate for vulnerable populations, officially steps into the role this month, bringing nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit operations, strategic planning, and community partnerships.

Roach joins Fifth Street Ministries at a critical moment, as the organization expands its efforts, alongside other organizations in the local homeless collaborative, to address the needs of individuals and families displaced by the closure of the Brookwood Inn. She will lead Fifth Street’s comprehensive services, which include emergency shelter, domestic violence support, veteran outreach, mental health services, and transitional housing programs.

“What draws me to Fifth Street Ministries is the remarkable depth and breadth of its mission,” said Roach. “It’s not just one program or one building—it’s a collection of vital services that meet people where they are, often during the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. I’m honored to step into this role and continue the legacy that began in 1988.”

Roach’s career spans both direct service and executive leadership, with a strong track record of strengthening internal systems, coaching teams through growth and change, and building collaborative partnerships that increase impact. She is known for her value-driven approach, grounded in respect, accountability, and human dignity.

“I’m inspired by the way this community comes together to stand with our under-housed neighbors—this collaboration is exactly why I’m honored to join Fifth Street Ministries,” Roach added. “There is incredible compassion in this region, and I look forward to deepening our partnerships and broadening our reach.”

In her first 90 days, Roach plans to focus on listening and learning, spending time in each program area, meeting with staff and clients, and connecting with community partners and supporters. She also plans to prioritize strategic planning, internal process review, and renewed community engagement.

Fifth Street Ministries has served the Iredell County community since 1990, operating with a mission to serve those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, addiction, and poverty. The organization offers both emergency services and long-term programs designed to help individuals and families regain stability, safety, and dignity.

Community members are encouraged to welcome Roach and engage in the work of Fifth Street by volunteering, attending upcoming events, or making a financial contribution to support critical services.
