Giving Tuesday, Funding the Community Food Box Program

Giving Tuesday, Funding the Community Food Box Program

The Community Food Box Program, launched during the pandemic to offset food insecurity caused by the pandemic: provides nutritious food and produce to community members who need it most within a ten mile radius. For July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, Fifth Street Ministries Community Food Box program provided the following: 2,282 food boxes 560 unique households served 1 food box provides food for 7 days.

With inflation at an all time high and the rising cost of food, we have seen our neighbors in need turn to food distributions such as the Community Food Boxes to meet their basic needs and the needs of their family members. This allows families to continue to pay their rent and utilities and remain housed.

In 2022, Feeding America estimates approximately 49 million people – 1 in 6 – received charitable food assistance sometime in 2022. Food insecurity exist in every zip code in the United States.

The population we serve includes men, women, and children who find themselves food insecure, disabled, homebound and with no transportation to obtain food. This population is representative of the overall population that we serve.

Fifth Street Ministries works to accommodate all those in need without discrimination.

This year for Giving Tuesday we hope you will consider giving a donation towards our Community Food Box program.
