Seven days per week, three meals per day.   That’s the
recommended allotment of food for healthy Americans.  We want
no less for our guests.  If you have not eaten for awhile and have
no way of knowing where your next meal is coming from, it’s a
little hard to think about getting out and looking for a job or
trying to figure out what your next step is going to be.

Breakfast is served to Emergency/Transitional and Night Shelter
guests only, but lunch and supper are open to anyone that is
hungry and does not have the financial means to provide a meal
for themselves or their family.  Bag lunches are provided for those
starting a new job until they get their first paycheck or for weary
travelers as they embark upon a many-hour bus trip to a place
where possibilities for a new start are found.

The nutritious food provided is vital to the health of homeless
children and adults and especially to persons who abuse alcohol
and/or drugs that likely would not get adequate nutrition from any
other source.  We address hunger from every angle possible
through our Food Services program.
Our food comes from donations from individuals, churches and
civic groups as well as through partnerships with the Second
Harvest Food Bank.  We are always appreciative of groups who
sponsor food drives on our behalf.  We share our excess items
with churches and organizations that provide emergency food
boxes and make referrals accordingly.

We turn no one away.  The only requirement for admission is
signing in on a sheet that is used for gleaning statistical data.
Meals are prepared according to trends, and we have found of late
that attendance can be from anywhere between 60 and 125.
From July 1 - December 31, 2008, we served over 30,000 meals
which represents an 11.3% increase from the prior year.

Food is basic to survival.  How fortunate we are to have the
support of this community as we share with our brothers and
sisters who might otherwise feel the pangs of hunger like most in
our society have never felt.  Serving a meal in our kitchen has
been described as providing "blessings from both sides of the
serving line."
